Takt Time Calculator

Determine the exact production pace required to meet customer demand schedules.

Takt Time

mins / unit

The Math

Takt time is the rate at which you need to complete a product to meet customer demand. It is the heartbeat of a lean manufacturing system.

Takt Time = Available Production Time / Customer Demand

Example Calculation

If you run an 8-hour shift (480 minutes) and operators get 30 minutes of break time, your Available Production Time is 450 minutes.

If the customer requires 200 units per shift, the math is:

450 mins / 200 units = 2.25 mins (or 135 seconds) per unit.

This means your line must output one finished good every 135 seconds to satisfy the customer without building excess inventory.
